Spring Garden Lutheran Church, our church, is going to be 150 years old this July and in celebration of that there was a beard growing contest at church. About 23 guys participated in this contest that started February 10th. We had a beard judging last Sunday, June 1st. I can't remember what everyone got as titles, but Lincoln got the Norelius Beard award for having a full beard like the church's founder. Clinton got the Bunyan (Paul Bunyan) Beard Award for looking like a logger. My father-in-law, Neal, got the Howdy Dudey (sp?) Beard Award for having a cowboy look. (I can't remember the exact names of the awards...I think these are right). It was a lot of fun. Lincoln's uncle Mark got the Ladies Choice Beard Award. Others included a beard that looked like Santa, one that looked like a billy goat, the zoo beard...a beard that looks like something is living in it...yuck.

All the guys in front of the original Spring Garden Church. It was disassembled and moved to our church and then put back together to look like it did back in 1858. Really neat.

Lincoln in front of the original church...sometimes called the "log cabin"

** Editor's Note: Lincoln shaved the beard off Sunday night...he's back to normal now! **
