Potty Times

Maybe some of you will know what I am talking about.....
Potty training is one of my biggest parental stresses (well, for the toddler years anyway). With Luke it was easy, he was in daycare so I had help. He's a pretty easy kid anyway except for his diet. Ashlyn...she's a different child. She's cute and loveable and I can't imagine life without her, but boy does she have attitude. I like that in her, most of the time. We started the potty training process last spring. She did good for a good month and then decided that she was too good for it. "Whatever, Mom...diapers work just fine!" So, ever since then, she's gone on her own off & on, still in diapers and pull-ups. Everyone experienced with children told me not to worry about it. Well, she turned 3 in December and I started to get a little nervous. Parents always compare kids...even if they don't admit it and me, if my kids aren't up to speed with other kids their age, I feel like a failure. Anyway, a couple girlfriends of mine have daughters almost exactly Ashlyn's age...they seem to talk better and they have been potty trained for a long time now. Back to that 'parents told me not to worry stuff,' I think I finally am starting to believe those people who said that. The last 2 days Ashlyn has been dry all day...all on her own. I hope I don't jinx it now that I said this. I am hoping that this is the "she'll do it on her own when she is ready" time. I would have a huge weight off my shoulders...then I would only have one child in need of changing come May. Here's to hoping! -Kim
